Our Process

Everything piece we make is cut and sewn one at a time, by hand.

We source, clean, and repair the textiles we work with ourselves, paying careful attention to any clues the materials may give revealing age, history and provenance. Every detail, including size and silhouette, is determined by the dimensions and condition of the textile, so our patterns are adjusted to suit.

Each textile is unique and frequently very limited in quantity. The end result is a garment that is one of a kind thoughtfully and sustainably made by hand.

We source our textiles, finishings and trims from far and wide, with great care and consideration. Our process begins with the textile itself - it tells us what it wants to be and often informs how we get there.

Most days, early in the morning after coffee on the front porch, we review the materials we have sourced and discuss silhouette, fabric pairings, finishings, and details. All of our patterns are made by Gary in the studio and are the backbone of the collection. He does most of the sewing on an industrial sewing machine, using a smaller model for details, and often finishes with hand sewn details such as button holes or repairs.
